Nominator's project description
| Marc Levine is a world leader in the field of Algebraic Geometry. His outstanding, innovative contributions to his subject, not least his recent Theory of Algebraic Cobordism, have elicited a huge response and been recognised in numerous awards, including the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation’s Wolfgang Paul Award in 2001. Levine will become one of the directors of the proposed Institute of Algebra at Duisburg-Essen University, drawing on previous stays in Essen. Levine will thus contribute to covering a broad palette of mathematical methods which will be unique in Germany and, indeed, can only be found at very few other places in the world. |
